Student Artists

In towns where there is a prominent art school one is likely to encounter quite a large number of student artists. Many student artists can be found in the town of Winchester which is home to the Winchester School of Art, a faculty associated with the University of Southampton.

Most student artists will study an undergraduate art course for three years, however in some instances the courses are significantly longer. Many student artists will find themselves taking a master’s course once they have finished their undergraduate degree.

A number of student artists who are especially talented will be able to fund their degrees through sale of their work. Some universities will often display works created by student artists, many of whom may find themselves being commissioned to produce work should somebody who happens to like their work see it on display. Many world famous and very successful artists and started their careers in art as student artists.

A number of highly reputable art galleries will often help to promote the work of up and coming student artists. Many galleries work in association with universities and art schools and will organise end of year displays and exhibitions were some of the best work produced by that institute’s student artists will be displayed. Many student artists will take their first step into a career in the art world by having a piece of their work exhibited at one of these displays.
